Using a Human Centered approach to enhance a life changing therapy
CONSOLE DESIGN:
Next Generation Retinal Laser Endoscopy
Human Centered Design Lead
A complete redesign of a flagship technology that has been utilized over 30 years. This design effort aimed to improve usability, reduce use errors, adapt to high throughput environments, and improve brand recognition in order to drive an increased market adoption in current and new markets.
Status Quo.
The current system has been on the market for over 20 years. Through contextual inquiry observed the challenges and work arounds users endured in order to make the technology adapt to their needs.
Redefined.
The system needed to be re-thought from the inside out, so we developed graphical schematics to facilitate a dialogue between a multi-disciplinary team and ensure that performance and usability were optimized for the use that we observed.
Evolved.
Concepts were developed to to provide specific features that facilitate the needs of sterile and non-sterile users in a all-in-one transportable cart system.
Developing from the inside out.
